Breast Cancer Awareness Day Scheduled For GSU Softball

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Softball will hold its second-annual "Save Second Base" Breast Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday, April 2nd, as the Eagles play host to Samford for a Southern Conference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. The game will support the Susan G. Komen Foundation's fight against breast cancer.
The Softball team will be selling a special pink T-shirt prior to the game on Wednesday, March 30th, and Thursday, March 31st, at the Russel Union on campus from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The shirts are $15 each and can be purchased on gameday. The Guardians of the Ribbon Southeast Chapter will have "Ruby" the pink fire truck on display in the parking lot. Fans will have the opportunity to honor a loved one or friend who has been affected by cancer by signing the vehicle. Colleges against Cancer representatives will be promoting breast cancer awareness by distributing awareness literature, ribbons and stickers.
The first 200 fans at Eagle Field will receive at free pink lei as part of the day's activities. The first 50 fans will be offered a free slice of pizza courtesy of Papa John's Pizza. Donations to Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation will be accepted throughout the game.
