Lady Eagles Open Five-Game Homestand with Jacksonville

STATESBORO, Ga. - Following a single road game to Davidson, the Georgia Southern Lady Eagles open a five-game homestand with Jacksonville on Wednesday. The contest with the Dolphins, which tips at 5 p.m. at Hanner Fieldhouse, is the last one for GSU before a nine-day holiday break. The game can be heard on 103.7 FM the Boomer and online at GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com.
Georgia Southern (2-8) is coming off a 72-48 loss to Davidson on Monday and is seeking its first home victory in its fifth try. Turnovers have proved costly in their eight losses this season. The Lady Eagles are averaging 21.8 turnovers per contest from which their opponents have scored 24.6 points per game.
Junior guard Meredyth Frye (Fredricksburg, Va.) continues to lead the team in points with 9.5 and rebounds with 4.6 a contest. MiMi DuBose (Jefferson, Ga.) has been coming on strong of late and has scored in double figures in her last three games. The sophomore guard is second on the squad with 9.3 points per game.
Jacksonville (1-9) leads the all-time series 2-1 and has won two straight. GSU defeated the Dolphins in the first-ever meeting and the only meeting in Hanner Fieldhouse 76-69 in the 2006-07 season. JU won last year's meeting 72-56 at Swisher Gymnasium after shooting nearly 50% and scoring 29 points off turnovers.
The Dolphins started the year winless in their first eight tries before defeating Jacksonville State 87-74. They are coming off a 70-64 loss to East Carolina on Sunday. Crystal Bell leads this year's squad with 11.2 points per game and is second on the team with 5.9 rebounds per contest. Jade Cargill leads the team's rebounding efforts with 7.0 a game.
