Eagles Look to Derail SMU

DALLAS, Texas. - Georgia Southern Men's Basketball goes for its second win of the season on Sunday afternoon against SMU in Dallas. The game, from Moody Coliseum, starts at 2 p.m. (CT), 3 p.m. (ET) and can be heard on the Georgia Southern Radio Network.

The Eagles conclude a two-game Thanksgiving road swing against the Mustangs for the first time in program history. Earlier this week, the Eagles fell 66-46 at South Florida and will look for a rebound against the 3-3 Mustangs.

Sophomore Eric Ferguson (Statesboro, Ga.) leads the Eagles with 16.5 points per game. He ranks third in the Southern Conference for scoring in the early weeks of the season. Senior Ben Drayton III (St. Marys, Ga.) is the SoCon's leading active scorer with 1,187 career points and can move into the top-25 all-time scoring at Georgia Southern on Sunday against SMU. He needs 13 points to move into a tie for 25th place with Roger Moore (1967-69) at 1,200 points.

SMU is 3-3 on the season with wins over Florida Gulf Coasta and Arkansas Pine-Bluff to its credit. Robert Nyakundi has 16.0 points per game to pace the team, he is also averaging 5.3 rebounds per game.

Following Sunday's game, Georgia Southern returns to Hanner Fieldhouse for the first round of SoCon games this season. Chattanooga comes to Statesboro on Thursday, December 1st, at 7 p.m. and Appalachian State closes the homestand on Saturday, December 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. The games will be the only chances to see the Eagles in Statesboro this December with four -straight road games to close out 2011.
