Bollaci Wins Singles Flight at Duckworth Fall Tennis Classic

Clemson, S.C. - Sophomore Mimi Bollaci (Atlanta, Ga.) won consecutive matches at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center this weekend to win her singles flight at the inaugural Duckworth Fall Tennis Classic. Eleven teams competed in singles and doubles in the flighted tournament hosted by Clemson University.
Bollaci went undefeated in singles action, defeating Kennesaw State's Kelsey Kennedy, 6-2, 6-1 and Anderson's Lauren Trumball, 6-1, 6-0 to capture the flight eight singles title.
Junior Alex Langmo (Boca Raton, Fla.) won consecutive three-set singles matches on her way to a runner-up finish. Langmo defeated Brenau's Eline Nagels, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 and Tennessee-Martin's Katie McCall 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 before falling to Kennesaw State's Tamara Plocker in the flight seven singles final.
Junior Taylor Jones (Warner Robins, Ga.) teamed up with freshman Scottie French (St. Augustine, Fla.) for a third place finish in flighted doubles. The Eagles tandem defeated Tennessee-Martin's McCall and Ivon Simic 9-8(4) before losing to eventual flight three doubles champions, Kathleen Henry and Clara Perez (AASU). Jones and French rebounded in the consolation match, defeating Brenau's Maria Perdoma Medina and Theresa Neumeyr, 8-6.
"This fall was a great experience for our team," said Head Coach Amy Bonner. "We faced some strong competition and we were able to work on things that will better prepare us for this spring. My upperclassmen did a great job leading the team and I'm excited to see what the upcoming season will bring."
The Eagles return to the practice courts in preparation for the spring schedule which begins on Jan. 28 at Charleston Southern.
