Frye Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Sophomore guard Meredyth Frye has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending January 5th. Frye, a Fredericksburg, Va., native holds a 3.61 cumulative GPA in graphic design.
Frye scored a career-best and game-high 24 points against Elon Monday and led Georgia Southern with 20 points against High Point last week. Helping the Lady Eagle Basketball team win three of their last four contests, Frye recorded a double-double with 14 points and tied a career high 12 rebounds in a victory over Samford.
Georgia Southern returns to the court tonight for a 7 p.m. tipoff with SoCon foe UNC Greensboro. The Lady Eagles return home Saturday for a 3 p.m. game against Davidson in Hanner Fieldhouse.
Frye is the third Eagle to be recognized as student-athlete of the week. Kate Van Dyke (Shawnee, Kan.) was honored for the week of October 27 and Moriah Bellissimo (Blackstone, Va.) was honored for the week of September 29.
