STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving team (7-3) travels to Davidson, N.C., on Saturday, January 22nd, to face six teams within the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA). The Eagles will compete against Campbell, Howard, Liberty, North Carolina A&T, Radford and Davidson. The seven-team meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Cannon Natatorium on the Davidson campus.
The Eagles have competed against four of the six teams in the meet previously, defeating Radford and Liberty in the Florida Gulf Coast quad meet (Jan. 8). Georgia Southern opened the season with wins over Campbell and North Carolina A & T (Oct. 15).
GSU split its double-dual meet last Saturday as it defeated CCSA foe Limestone (166-37), but fell to Gardner-Webb (116-88), in the 22-event meet at the Gardner-Webb Aquatics Center. The Eagles finished in first or second place 10 times over the course of the day. Senior Caroline Bevillard (Bishop, Ga.) led Georgia Southern with two individual first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (55.13) and in the 200 free (1:56.81). Classmate Lindsay Goodman (Knoxville, Tenn.) was the other Eagle to capture first-place honors winning the 200 backstroke (2:09.48).
Georgia Southern will conclude its regular season next Saturday, January 29th, at home. The Eagles will play host to North Florida at 12 p.m. at the Recreation Activity Center (RAC) located on Akins Boulevard on campus. Admission to the meet is free.
