Eagles Conclude Day Two at Southern Intercollegiate Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team completed day two action at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships Saturday (September 25). Juan Manuel Melian Puigventos (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain) won his first round consolation match to play on Sunday.
In doubles action, the Eagle duo of Thomas Bekkers (Antwerp, Belgium) and Alex Yuille (Epsom, England) dropped an 8-5 battle to Radford's Larbi Lamzouri and David Clavera in Division II action.
Competing in the back draw of Division I singles, Melian Puigventos downed Liberty's Mandeep Yadav, 6-3, 6-1.
In Division II consolation singles, Matthijs Verdam (Hilversum, The Netherlands) suffered a hard-fought loss to Hans Adrian Riseng of Stetson. Riseng defeated Verdam, 6-2, 7-5. Rounding out play for the Eagles, Yuille fell in Division III consolation singles, 6-0, 6-1 to David Roberts of LSU.
Due to inclement weather, the consolation rounds scheduled to be played on Sunday were cancelled.
