ELGIN, Ill. (Georgia Southern) - For the remaining 48 games this summer and the postseason, Georgia Southern University Softball Coach Maggie Johnson will join the Chicago Bandits of the National Professional Fastpitch League. "I am appreciative and excited about the opportunity to work with Mickey Dean and the Chicago Bandits," said Johnson. "Working with a program and with athletes that play the game of softball at the highest level is an amazing honor, and I look forward to contributing to the success of the Bandits this season."
Johnson became the fourth head coach in Georgia Southern fastpitch history in June, 2008. The Raleigh, N.C., native led the Eagles to a 59-51 (28-19 Southern Conference) record in two years, posting the highest winning percentage after two seasons.
"I look forward to working with her again," said Bandits head coach Mickey Dean. "She was my assistant at Radford and I feel she'll be a great addition to our staff because she's been a student of the game and knows the game very well."
