Iduate Named First Team Academic All-American

TOWSON, Md. (Georgia Southern) - Georgia Southern softball standout Nina Iduate became the third Eagle in school history to earn First Team Academic All-American honors, being named to the ESPN The Magazine First Team Wednesday (May 26). The university team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Iduate led the Eagles with a Southern Conference single-season record .450 batting average, finishing her stellar career as the all-time leader at Georgia Southern with a .371 average. The 2010 Southern Conference Player of the Year posted a 3.65 in Mathematics, and made the Dean's List (3.5 GPA or higher) five times during her academic career and the President's List (4.0 GPA) once.
Iduate, a Norcross, Ga. native, was the 11th-leading hitter in NCAA Division I, leading the conference with 85 base hits. In her career, she was named first team All-Southern Conference three times.
The shortstop for the Eagles softball team is the 10th Academic All-American at Georgia Southern, and just the second softball player to earn the honor.
