STATESBORO, Ga. – CollegeBaseballInsider.com has named senior first baseman Kyle Blackburn the Southeast National Player of the Week. Blackburn hit .579 in five games last week as Georgia Southern went undefeated, 5-0.
Blackburn (Marietta, Ga.) recorded an on-base percentage of .600 using three doubles, two home runs, nine runs and nine RBI. The senior Eagle boasted a 1.053 slugging percentage in the five wins and had at least one hit in each game. He drove in four runs in the Southern Conference series opener at Davidson.
For his performance during the week, Blackburn was also recognized as the Southern Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Georgia Southern closes out regular season action May 20-22 welcoming top-ranked SoCon foe The Citadel to J.I. Clements Stadium. The final regular season series begins with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Thursday, May 20.
