Streetmon Earns SoCon Pitcher of the Month Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference announced its March athletes of the month today, highlighting excellent performances by student-athletes in spring sports. The athletes of the month are nominated by each member institution and selected by the conference office.
Eagle Brianna Streetmon (Winder, Ga. ) fashioned a 9-3 record to go along with one save and a 0.89 ERA during the month of March to earn the SoCon Softball Pitcher of the Month award. The junior surrendered just 11 earned runs in 86.2 innings in the circle, striking out 80 batters while walking only 18. At one point in the month, Streetmon won eight straight decisions and had pitched 31 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. She surrendered only one home run on the month while guiding Georgia Southern to a 12-7 record and a 6-2 Southern Conference mark March.
Georgia Southern took both awards for pitcher of the month as Jake Brown, a senior left-handed pitcher on the Eagle baseball team was honored for his March accomplishments.
The Eagles (20-14, 6-2 SoCon) welcome Chattanooga (28-9, 9-0 SoCon) to Statesboro for Saturday's (April 10) doubleheader with the first game scheduled for 1 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. game. The final game of the series on Sunday will begin at 1 p.m. Admission to Eagle Field is free.
