The Georgia Southern relay teams in the 4X100 and 4X400 both captured second-place finishes with times good enough to rank second in the 2010 Southern Conference results. The 4X100 team of sophomore Morgan Jefferson (Villa Rica, Ga.), Courtney Ware (Indianapolis, Ind.), Jasmine Billings (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Demetrise Anthony (Manchester, Ga.) posted a time of 47.20. Ebony Carter (Rome, Ga. ), Jefferson, Ware and Joann Benson-Jaja (Savannah, Ga.) teamed up for the 4X400 relay and a time of 3:53.94, the best time of the Eagles' season.

Billings recorded her season-best time in the 100 meter Hurdles at 14.18. Her first-place finish was just ahead of senior Shaunta Hamilton (Macon, Ga.), who ran a 14.91 (-1.6) for fourth place. The two combined to score 15 points in that event. Anthony, with a time of 12.00 in the 100 meter dash, earned a second-place finish and Carter (12.81) placed fifth in that event.  Carter had the top Eagle time, and her best of the season, in the 200 meter dash (25.47). Carter finished second, with Anthony taking third with a time of 25.56. Benson-Jaja set her season-best mark with a time of 25.94 for fifth place and Billings was seventh at 26.25. Georgia Southern posted 18 points in that event alone.

Kassi Lee (Elberton, Ga.)ran a time of 20:53.00 to take first place and score 10 points for the Eagles in the 5,000 meter Run. Laura Fuller led Georgia Southern's three top-five finishes in the 1,500 meter Run. Fuller finished first at 4:53.88, the best time for the Eagles this season, with freshman Sara Curry placing fourth (Lawrenceville, Ga. -- 5:02.25) and Leah Bradley fifth (McDonough, Ga. -- 5:14.22) for 19 points toward the Eagles' total. With a time of 2:22.25 in the 800 meters, Azura Robillard (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) captured a third-place finish and Fuller (2:26.09) was fifth overall.

In the 400 meter Dash, the Eagles' Jefferson placed third with a time of 57.38, the top Georgia Southern time this season and teammate Benson-Jaja was seventh (59.59). Ware and Millicent Brooks-Millender (Douglasville, Ga.) took fourth- and fifth-place, respectively, in the 400 meter Dash. Ware's time of 1:06.75 was her best of the season.

Field performances dominated for the second week in a row as the Eagles placed eight women in the Hammer Throw. Senior Amanda Spivy (Pembroke, Ga.) posted her season best, with a first-place winning throw of 39.93 meters. Freshman Megan Fannon (Doraville, Ga.) also had a season best mark with 36.0 meters good for fourth place and Ashley Thomas threw for 34.48, her season best, for sixth overall. Sarah Herndon placed seventh with her distance of 34.05 and Charnelle Wray (Jamaica, N.Y.) rounded out the top finishers with an eighth-place finish and a throw of 29.57.

In the Discus, Spivy was second overall with a distance of 37.60 meters. Thomas garnered a fourth-place finish at 32.80 meters and Herndon completed the scoring for Georgia Southern in that event with a distance of 30.58 meters for sixth place.

Thomas picked up a first-place finish in the Shot Put with a distance of 12.27 meters, her best performance of the season. Wray took third place at 11.18 meters and Herndon was sixth (10.72 meters). Three other Eagles finished out of the points, but still had good performances in the event with Hamilton narrowly missing the 10-meter mark at 9.93 meters. Fannon threw for 9.35 meters and Robillard, who had the day's best distance in the Javelin event (27.90), had a throw of 9.33 meters.

Alex Cassagnol (Augusta, Ga. ) bettered her performance from last weekend's meet to tie for a first-place finish with her season-best 1.63 height. Hamilton had a second-place mark of 11.80 (-0.1) in the Triple Jump. The Eagles picked up a 3-4-5 set of finishes in the Long Jump with Anthony's 5.85 (0.6) distance pushing her to the top spot in the SoCon. Hamilton was fourth (5.64, -0.1) and Brooks-Millender finished fifth at 5.25 meters.

Georgia Southern heads to Charlotte, N.C., next weekend to race at the Johnson C. Smith Invitational on Saturday, April 10th.
