Swimming & Diving Team Earns Scholar All-America Honors

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern swimming & diving team was named a Fall Scholar All-American team as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Georgia Southern improved its team grade point average (GPA) to 3.46 for the fall 2009 semester and moved to a seventh-place tie with Bucknell University after ranking 13th during after the spring 2009 semester. The CSCAA ranks all Division I teams twice a year.
"As a coaching staff, we are very proud of the achievements of our swimmers and divers this semester - athletically and academically," said Eagles Head Coach Nathan Kellogg. "Their success has been earned through consistent dedication, hard work, and focus. This is why they are here - to get an education and put themselves in a position for success after athletics."
Fellow Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association member Gardner-Webb posted the highest team GPA among the women's teams with a 3.52. Representing 238 colleges and universities, 347 men's and women's teams earned the distinction of Scholar All-American. The teams received the award for posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The Eagles compete next at the CCSA Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., beginning Thursday, February 18 through Saturday, February 20.
