STATESBORO, Ga. – Alessandra Dzuba (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Paola Garrido (Vigo, Spain) capped the SpringHill Suites Invitational claiming two singles titles, while Garrido and Ashley Hungerford (Clearwater, Fla.) paired up to take the flight B doubles title.
“This was a great weekend for us,” said Head Coach Amy Bonner.” I'm proud of the way our team competed and I am looking forward to a promising spring. Ashley [Hungerford] and Melanie [Rolle] did a great job showing their leadership today and two of our newcomers won their singles flights, so it made for a strong showing this weekend on our home courts.”
On the final day of competition, Garrido delivered a 6-0, 6-1 ousting of Lucie Payrat of Mercer to take the orange draw singles title. Garrido went 3-0 in singles action over the weekend, while Dzuba went 2-0 to claim the green draw singles title. Dzuba dropped only two games en route to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Sabrina Mendez of South Carolina State.
