Eagles Swimming & Diving Team Competes Friday & Saturday

STATESBORO, Ga, -- In its remaining home event, the Georgia Southern swimming and Diving team plays host to Florida Gulf Coast, Gardner-Webb and North Florida in a two-day meet Friday-Saturday, January 15-16, at the Aquatics Center at the Recreation Activity Center. Events begin with diving competition on both days, 6 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
"This is a benchmark event for us with four of the top five teams in the conference competing this weekend," said Eagles head coach Nate Kellogg. "Facing stiff competition produces good times, and add to that, it's our senior weekend, so we're very excited."
Seniors Courtney Martz (Woodbine, Ga.), Lauren Parr (Canton, Ohio), Jordyn Pasley (Knoxville, Tenn.), Rachel Sale (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) and Ashley White (Charlotte, N.C.) will be competing in their final meet at home this weekend. Prior to the start of the meet events on Saturday morning, they will be honored for their Eagle career accomplishments and for their contributions to GSU Swimming and Diving.
"Our season is broken into two parts: training and competition," Kellogg said. "Now our focus is on racing at a higher level than in the fall and improving each week as we head to the conference championship next month."
The Eagles have not competed since their trip to the Gamecock Invitational in late November, where they produced top times this season in 15 or 16 swimming events. This weekend's meet, plus a meet at Davidson next Saturday (January 23), will help GSU rev up for the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association championship February 18-20.
