Lady Eagles to Face Terriers and Wildcats

STATESBORO, GA – Returning to the court for two conference games, the Georgia Southern women's basketball team travels to face Wofford, Saturday, before returning to Hanner Fieldhouse to play host to Davidson on Monday, January 18. Game times are set for 3 p.m. Saturday (January 16) and 7 p.m. on Monday.
Fans can follow all the game-time action as Ryan Chambers of the Georgia Southern Radio Network will broadcast both games live. Locally, fans can listen as the Lady Eagles take on the Wofford Terriers on WKKN 94.9 FM Saturday afternoon. Monday night's game against Davidson will return to WPMX 102.9 FM. Georgia Southern (8-8, 3-4) is coming off an overtime win against Furman (January 11). The Lady Eagles and Paladins completed regulation play tied at 45-45, taking the contest into the first overtime game played by Georgia Southern since 2007. J'Lisia Ogburn (Duluth, Ga.) scored first in overtime leading the Lady Eagles to victory, 54-50.
Ogburn and Carolyn Whitney (Dublin, Ga.) share the offensive lead for Georgia Southern on the season, both putting in 11.1 points per game. Ogburn leads Jessica Geiger (Stone Mountain, Ga.) in rebounding, averaging 4.9 boards to Geiger's 4.8.
Wofford (2-12, 1-6) enters Saturday's contest after dropping a 65-52 decision at College of Charleston (January 11). The lone two wins of the season come at home against Norfolk State and conference foe UNC Greensboro. Surprisingly, Wofford has played only two games at home this season with Saturday's game against GS marking the third. The Terriers are paced in scoring this season by Mahagony Williams with 11.0 ppg. Williams also leads the team in rebounding pulling down 8.1 rpg.
Georgia Southern will meet Wofford in Spartanburg for the 13th time in program history. The Lady Eagles are undefeated at Wofford, 12-0, and hold an all-time series advantage over the Terriers, 24-3. Head Coach Rusty Cram, who recorded his 200th career win at Wofford last season, is an astounding 24-3 when facing the Terriers.
Davidson (8-8, 6-2) stood in first place on the Southern Conference leader board until a 64-62 loss against Chattanooga (January 11) dropped the Wildcats into a tie for second place. The loss snapped a six-game win streak Davidson held. For the season, Alex Thompson leads the Wildcats in scoring, averaging 14.0 points per game. Sophia Alexsandravicius, who is second in scoring with 12.3 ppg, paces Davidson with 8.3 rebounds per game.
Georgia Southern dropped both games against Davidson last season as the Wildcats hold a slight all-time series advantage, 18-17. Davidson leads the series in Statesboro, 9-8. The last Georgia Southern win over Davidson dates back to March 7, 2003 when the Lady Eagles defeated the Wildcats, 62-57 in the Southern Conference Tournament. GS also took a regular season match-up that year, 77-61. Since then, Davidson has taken 12 straight contests.
