Cole Fountain Voted UPC 'Lineman of the Week'

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern fans voted Cole Fountain Utilities Protection Center "Lineman of the Week" for his performance in the September 5 Eagles' game vs. Albany.

In the 29-26 victory over the Great Danes, Fountain and the offensive line helped Georgia Southern finish with 30 pass completions, the second-highest single-game total in program history. The senior offensive lineman from Cartersville, Ga., made his 13th consecutive start in the 2009 season opener, the highest number among all Georgia Southern offensive players. Fountain was named one of the team captains for this year.

Fountain is honored for the second time as UPC "Lineman of the Week", as he won the popular vote last year after the Austin Peay game (Sept. 6, 2008). Fountain won the title this week with 40% of the votes in a very close contest with Brent Russell.
