Men's Soccer Heads to the Gonzaga Nike Soccer Classic

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team (0-3) heads to Spokane, Wash. this weekend for the Gonzaga Nike Soccer Classic.
The Eagles will face Gonzaga (1-1-2) Friday at 7 p.m. est and Oregon State (2-0-1) Sunday at 1:30 p.m. est. Gonzaga and Oregon State faced off earlier this week and fought to a 1-1 tie. The Bulldogs scored on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute of Tuesday's match to tie the match with the Beavers.
The Eagles lost a tough one to Campbell on Tuesday and will be looking to pick up a win against quality competition this weekend.
Gonzaga picked up a win its first time out against Trinity Western. Ben Funkhouser led the Bulldogs' attack with two goals and four shots on goal.
Oregon State won both of its matches in the OSU/Nike Challenge last weekend. The Beavers defeated San Jose State 3-1 and Cal State Bakersfield 4-0. OSU currently has three players tied for the lead in goals scored. Danny Mwanga has scored two goals and leads the team in shots on goal (4). John Swenson has scored two goals off the bench this season.
The Eagles will kick off the Gonzaga/Nike Soccer Classic Friday at 7 p.m.
