STATESBORO, Ga. - Griffin Benedict (Dunwoody, Ga.) was recently promoted to AAA after only two months in the minor leagues and made his debut for the Portland Beavers on July 26th.
“I am excited for the opportunity to move up and learn from these more experienced players. I am learning a lot and am enjoying getting to see how these guys play,” said Benedict.
This is Benedict's third professional team since being drafted in the 16th round by the San Diego Padres. He is hitting .255 with six RBIs over his short professional career.
Tony Chisman (Conyers, Ga.) was named to the Coastal Plain League American All-Star team. Chisman appeared in the All-Star game and pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the 2-2 tie. In 16 appearances for the Peninsula Pilots he has recorded a 0.46 ERA with nine saves in 19.2 innings.
