Softball Begins Second Half of SoCon Play at Elon

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern softball team (17-16, 7-5) travels to Elon for a three-game series starting Friday.
The Eagles are coming off a series win over Samford and will look to continue their series' win streak over Elon this weekend.
Georgia Southern won game one and three behind the strong arm of Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week, Brianna Streetmon (Winder, Ga.). She pitched two four-hit shutouts against Samford and earned her 10th win of the season.
The Eagles lead the SoCon in batting (.295), slugging (.445) and doubles (54).
Robyne Siliga (Oceanside, Calif.) continues to rank among the conference leaders in batting (.419), Slugging (.797) and on-base percentage (.606). The senior third baseman has already walked 31 times this season, which is tied for third most in school history.
Marie Fogle (Rincon, Ga.) stole four bases in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, setting a season high for an Eagle.
The Eagles are 14-7 all time against the Phoenix with the first meeting coming in 1999. Georgia Southern and Elon began meeting on a regular basis in 2004 when the Phoenix joined the SoCon. The Eagles have never lost a series to Elon.
First pitch in Friday's doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. at East Field.
