Eagles Close Out Last Regular Season Homestand with College of Charleston

STATESBORO, GA ?Seniors Joris De Weerdt, Philip Prins, Alonso Rodriguez and Matthew Sands will be honored on Wednesday, April 8 in the last regular season home match for the Georgia Southern men's tennis team. The Eagles will face Southern Conference rival College of Charleston at 2:30 p.m. at the Hanner Tennis Complex.
"This is an important match in terms of conference standings and also for the seniors who will compete for the last time at home. Both teams will be fired up and intense and that is what makes college tennis exciting,” said head coach Justin Miles.
Georgia Southern (7-7-1, 3-3-1) is coming off two exciting conference wins over the weekend. The Eagles upended The Citadel and Davidson both by 6-1 margins. The win over Davidson on Sunday was the first for Georgia Southern since 2005. The Eagles will look to improve on a 6-2 home record this season on Wednesday against the Cougars, who are winless on the road this season (0-9).
College of Charleston (7-11, 4-4) is also coming off two conference wins on its home court from the weekend, 5-2 decisions over Davidson and Samford, respectively. The Cougars claimed the doubles point in both matches to propel them to a .500 mark in conference action. Cougar Mickael Trintignac boasts a five-match win streak that dates back to March 21 while playing at the No.3 and No.4 positions.
Georgia Southern defeated College of Charleston, 5-2, in 2008, which marked the first time the Eagles took a decision from the Cougars since 2002 when the Eagles walked away with a 5-2 decision at home.
