April 25, 1999

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern softball team faced UNC Greensboro in a four-game series before heading to the Southern Conference tournament. The Eagles won the first three matchups allowing only three combined runs.

GSU's all-time wins and ERA leader, Aimee Littlejohn, pitched a gem of a game, allowing only two hits in her second win of the series.

The Eagles scored two quick runs in the top of the first inning on back-to-back RBI base hits by Jennifer Harris and Jennifer Miller and added another run in the fifth inning. Jaclyn Kaylor reached and scored the run on two errors and a stolen base.

Stacie Cooper went two for three including her first inning base hit.

Littlejohn struck out seven and worked around three defensive errors to win her 17th game of the season.

She retired the side in order in the first and second innings and went five innings without allowing a hit. The freshman pitcher worked around back-to-back base knocks in the sixth inning to preserve the shutout.

Georgia Southern went on to win the Southern Conference tournament and finished the season on an 11-game win streak, the longest in school history.
