Eagles Continue Road Stretch with Pair of SoCon Matches

STATESBORO, GA ? The Georgia Southern men's tennis team rounds out its longest stretch on the road this season with visits to Wofford and Furman this weekend. The Eagles will look to snap a three-game skid with a pair of Southern Conference wins.
Having dropped the opening half of the road trip, the Eagles enter Saturday's match-up against the Wofford Terriers at 5-5 overall and 1-1 in SoCon play. Georgia Southern most recently dropped a 5-2 decision to non-conference foe UAB on Wednesday (March 18). Senior Joris De Weerdt and junior Jayraj Jadeja were both victorious in singles action for the Eagles. Jadeja went undefeated in action, also conquering his doubles opponents with partner Justin Flynn.
The Wofford Terriers enter the contest standing at 6-8 overall and 0-1 having dropped their conference opener to Elon (March 14). The Terriers host College of Charleston on Friday before facing off against the Eagles on Saturday. Last season, the Eagles defeated Wofford 4-3 in Statesboro.
The Furman Paladins, currently on a three-match win streak, will host Davidson on Saturday in a SoCon match before facing Georgia Southern on Sunday. The Paladins currently stand at 10-7 overall and 1-0 in conference play having opened their conference schedule with a 5-2 win over Appalachian State (March 18). Furman boasts nationally ranked Andy Juc who is the No. 121 singles player in the country. Juc, paired with Robert Ladyman, comprise the No. 67 doubles team in the nation. Furman took a 6-1 decision over Georgia Southern in Statesboro during the 2008 regular season.
Match times this weekend are set for noon on Saturday at Wofford and 2 p.m. on Sunday at Furman. The Eagles return home on Tuesday after closing out this road series to entertain Elon at the Hanner Tennis Complex.
