Lady Eagles Hit the Road to Face Gardner-Webb

STATESBORO, GA ? The Georgia Southern women's tennis team is hitting the road for a match-up against Gardner-Webb, Saturday, February 7. First serve at Lost Mountain Park is slated for 11 a.m. in Powder Springs, Ga.
The Lady Eagles (2-2) are coming off a 6-1 dismissal of Hampton (Feb. 1) at home. Georgia Southern jumped out to a 1-0 lead by securing the doubles point with a sweep of all three doubles matches and then grabbed five singles victories to secure the match win. The Lady Eagles recorded straight set victories from the one, two, three, five and six seeds, respectively.
Gardner-Webb opened its season on Jan. 17 and since then has compiled a 1-2 overall record. Its two losses come against nationally ranked Wake Forest and North Carolina. The Bulldogs are coming off their first victory of the season with a 7-0 sweep of North Carolina Central (Jan. 24). Three singles competitors did not drop a game in straight set victories over their opponents for the Lady Bulldogs.
Last season, the Lady Eagles recorded a 5-2 win over the Lady Bulldogs. Georgia Southern clinched the doubles point and won four singles matches to take the win.
