Women?s Tennis Hits the Road for Two Matches in Florida

STATESBORO, GA ?Coming off a 5-2 victory over Gardner-Webb (Feb. 7), the Georgia Southern women's tennis team continues this five-match road trip with two matches in Florida this weekend. The Lady Eagles face Central Florida, Friday, in a 2 p.m. match and turn around to face Bethune-Cookman on Saturday (Feb. 14) at 11 a.m.
The Lady Eagles have opened their 2009 dual match season with success thus far, boasting a 3-2 overall record, falling only to Georgia State and North Florida. Georgia Southern enters Friday's match coming off a 5-2 victory over Gardner-Webb. The Lady Eagles grabbed the doubles point for the third time this season to jump out with the early advantage. In a total team effort, Georgia Southern secured the win over Gardner-Webb capturing four singles matches.
Central Florida (2-2) is opening a five game homestand on Friday looking to rebound from a 6-1 defeat against No. 13 Miami. Katie Orletsky notched the Knights' only victory over the Hurricanes from the six seed. The Knights have recorded victories over Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic. Central Florida is led by nationally ranked No. 70 Andrea Yacaman.
Bethune-Cookman (0-1) hosts Georgia Southern on Saturday (Feb. 14) at 11 a.m. for only its second match of the season. The Lady Wildcats dropped their season opener against Jacksonville (Jan. 29), 5-2. Eva Hankova and Stacey Lopez were both victorious for the Lady Wildcats at the three and four seeds, respectively.
Georgia Southern will look to extend its 3-2 all-time series record over Central Florida on Friday. First serve at the UCF Tennis Complex is slated for 2 p.m.
