Lady Eagles Close Out Homestand With UNC Greensboro and Florida Atlantic

STATESBORO, GA – Returning from the Christmas holiday, the Georgia Southern women's basketball team closes out a three-game homestand welcoming Southern Conference rival UNC Greensboro and non-conference foe Florida Atlantic, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Game times for both contests are set for 5 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse. Ryan Chambers of the Georgia Southern radio network will call the action for both games. Georgia Southern (6-4, 2-0) enters this two-game stretch coming off an 80-67 victory over Kennesaw State (December 21). J'Lisia Ogburn (Dublin, Ga.) set a career-high 20 points in the win that witnessed three Lady Eagles score in double figures. Carolyn Whitney (Duluth, Ga.) tied her season-high of 17 points, while junior Jamie Navarro (Naples, Fla.) posted her third consecutive game in double digits, adding 12 to the board.
The Eagles evenly distributed the defense with Ogburn leading on both ends of the floor securing eight rebounds. Navarro followed with seven boards. For the season, Ogburn leads the offense and defense posting 12.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game on average. Whitney chips in 11.7 ppg while senior Jessica Geiger (Stone Mountain, Ga.) secures 5.1 boards per game.
UNC Greensboro (4-7, 1-2) routed Samford with a 55-47 decision on December 21. Lakiah Hyson and Monique Floyd shared a game-high 13 points each, while redshirt freshman Amy Clapper added 10 points in the win. The Spartans led at half by one point, but used a 16-0 run midway through the second half to seize control of the game.
On the season, Hyson leads the Spartans' offense with 11.5 ppg. Amanda Leigh follows Hyson with 9.5 ppg. Agne Girstautaite paces the defense picking up 4.2 rebounds per game.
Georgia Southern and UNCG split the series in 2008-09 with each team taking their respective home decisions. UNCG leads the all-time series 17-13, but GS leads in Statesboro, 7-5.

GS took the decision in 2008-09 at Florida Atlantic, 83-67, and leads the all-time series, 3-0. This will be the first trip for the Owls to Georgia Southern.
