Men's Soccer Hosts Senior Day Saturday

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team (1-14-1, 0-5-0) will honor its two seniors, Danny Hall (Conyers, Ga.) and Joey Ralph (Evans, Ga.) on Senior Day Saturday at 1 p.m. The Eagles will then take the pitch against Appalachian State (7-8-1, 2-4-0) in the final home regular-season match of the season.
Georgia Southern is coming off a Tuesday 1-0 victory over North Florida and is looking to send their seniors out a winner in their final home match. The Eagles got a goal from Rich Heyer (Tupelo, Miss.) in the second half and held on to earn their first win of the season. Zach Buckley (Statesboro, Ga.) started in goal and made six saves to help hold the Ospreys scoreless. The GS defense also notched a pair of saves, helping Buckley keep UNF off the board.
The Mountaineers enter Saturday's match riding a three-game win streak. The streak started with an overtime win over UNC Greensboro. J.J. Elder knocked in a Steven Sassano corner kick in the 97th minute to give Appalachian State the 2-1 win. The Mountaineers trailed in their next match against Gardner-Webb but tallied four straight goals to win 4-2. Sean Dreybus scored two goals, and Ryan Duffy tied the match with his first goal of the season.
Tuesday saw Appalachian State earn their third-straight win with a 2-0 shutout victory over UNC Asheville. They tallied two first-half goals and held the Bulldogs scoreless in the Mountaineers' seventh win of the season.
Senior Day events will take place before the start of Saturday's final home regular-season match at Eagle Field inside of the Erk Russell Athletic Park.
