Eagles Set Season Highs, Advance Six to Tonight's Finals

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Georgia Southern swimming & diving team improved on their performance from day one of the Gamecock Invitational and advanced six swimmers to tonight's 6 p.m. finals. A number of Eagles also set season-high times in a great day two.
Lauren Parr (Canton, Ohio) advanced to the finals of the 400 IM after a 18th place finish. Parr finished with a time of 4:34.67. Lindsay Mullican (Lancaster, Pa.) finished 30th with a time of 4:41.97. Lindsay Goodman (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Emily Fell (Brunswick, Ga.) rounded out the 400 IM. Goodman came in 32nd with a time of 4:44.59, and Fell finished 34th with a mark of 4:48.17.
The 100 Fly saw Georgia Southern place three swimmers in the finals, all setting new season-best times. Caitlin Martin (Lilburn, Ga.) led the way with a 19th place finish (58.59). Parr finished 22nd with a time of 58.67, and Courtney Martz (Woodbine, Ga.) finished right behind her in 23rd place (58.81). Ashley White (Charlotte, N.C.) nearly gave the Eagles a fourth swimmer in tonight's 6 p.m. finals session. White finished 28th with a season-best time of 59.35.
Georgia Southern advanced to the finals in another event, the 100 Breast. White placed 15th with a season-high time of 1:07.73. Kristin Celii (Cary, N.C.) and Martin finished just outside of the finals. Celii placed 25th with a time of 1:09.39, and Martin came in 28th with a mark of 1:10.14.
Martz advanced to the third finals of the Gamecock Invitational in the 100 Back. Martz set a new season-high with a time of 58.89. Goodman finished 31st with a time of 1:00.24.
Ali Campbell (Alberta, Canada) and Laurie Stephens (Atlanta, Ga.) led the way in the 200 Free. Campbell finished with a new season-best time (1:56.76) in 32nd place, and Stephens came in 33rd with her own season-best mark of 1:56.96.Jordyn Pasley (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished 41st with a time of 1:58.09.
