Men's Soccer Falls on a Penalty Kick to Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Danny Hall (Conyers, Ga.) notched a game-tying goal in the 62nd minute, but a 74th minute penalty kick gave Furman a 2-1 decision over the Georgia southern men's soccer team (0-14-1, 0-5-0) Saturday.
The Eagles out shot the Paladins 15-9 and 9-5 in shots on goal. GS tallied 11 of their 15 shots in the second half Saturday.
Furman struck first, scoring a goal in the 37th minute off a free kick. Caleb Suri launched the kick from 26 yards out, placing it into the left corner of the net.
Hall tied the match in the 62nd minute with his fourth penalty kick goal of the season. Hall leads the team in goals scored, and all four goals have been off penalty kicks.
The Paladins got a penalty kick of their own in the 74th minute and took a 2-1 lead.
The Eagles opened the first half with two shots. Hall missed wide of the net in the 7th minute, and Aleksandar Tomic (Sydney, Australia) missed to the left of the post in the 12th minute.
Furman took control of the ball in the 14th minute and rattled off four straight shots before the Eagles could return to the attack.
Witt Carlisle (Alpharetta, Ga.) put a shot on target for Georgia Southern in the 21st minute, forcing a save from the keeper.
After three more shots by the Paladins, Hall recorded his first shot on goal in the 33rd minute. Alec Kann made another save, denying the Eagles a goal.
The Paladins found the net in the 37th minute, taking the early lead. Caleb Suri launched a free kick from 26 yards out into the left corner of the net.
The Eagles opened the second half on the attack, notching six straight shots. Jon Cox (Alpharetta, Ga.) tallied three of those shots and put two on goal. Cameron Troutman (Ocean Springs, Miss.) put a shot on target in the 51st minute. Alec Kann, however, made saves on all three, but the Eagles got a penalty kick in the 62nd minute and tied the match at 1-1.
Matt Crowell (St. Augustine, Fla.) kept Georgia Southern on the attack, forcing a save by Kann.
Furman responded, tallying three shots and a penalty kick. Jordan Howard took the kick and gave the Paladins another lead.
Tomic tried to tie the match with a shot on goal in the 79th minute, but Kann made the save. Tomic went on to add two more shots but was unable to tie the match.
Hall took the final shot for the Eagles but had his shot blocked by the defense.
The Eagles play a final non-conference match Tuesday at North Florida.
