Eagles Hits the Road for a Pair of Non-conference Matches

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team (0-8-1, 0-1) travels to Gardner-Webb (5-3-1) Friday and #18 N.C. State (7-2-1) Tuesday for a pair of non-conference matches.
The Eagles are coming off a tough conference-opening loss to Davidson last Saturday. Freshman Witt Carlisle (Alpharetta, Ga.) will look to lead Georgia Southern's attack. Carlisle is tied for the team lead in shots on goal with nine and has appeared in all nine games with five starts.
The Bulldogs fell to Coastal Carolina 3-1 their last time out but opened the season with three straight wins. Gardner-Webb boasts wins over Clemson, Covenant College, Jacksonville, Presbyterian and Radford.
Gerard Hefferon leads the Bulldogs' attack with six goals and 26 shots. Hefferon ranks third in goals and shots in the Big South conference.
The Wolfpack is riding a three-game win streak after knocking off Wofford 2-0 Tuesday. N.C. State will try to extend that streak to a season high four games when they face #8 Duke Friday.
Christopher Widman has played every minute in the net for N.C. State this season. Widman sports an impressive 0.77 goals against average. Ronnie Bouemboue leads the ACC with five goals and 15 points, while Alan Sanchez has tallied a league best six assists.
The Eagles will face Gardner-Webb Saturday at 2 p.m. and N.C. State Tuesday at 7 p.m.
