Eagles Continue Fall Play at UNF Invitational

STATESBORO, GA – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team will continue its fall tournament slate traveling to Jacksonville, Fla., this weekend for the UNF Fall Invitational. The tournament, hosted by University of North Florida, consists of 11 teams comprising two singles and two doubles draws.
Competing in the tournament will be: Belmont University, Bethune-Cookman, East Tennessee State, Florida A&M, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville University, Mercer, North Florida, South Carolina State and USC Upstate.
Representing Georgia Southern in the fall tournament will be senior Gregory Bekkers (Antwerp, Belgium), juniors Thomas Bekkers (Antwerp, Belgium) and Alex Yuille (Epsom, England), sophomore Edio Castanhel (Criciuma, Brazil), and freshmen Sebastian Felt (Vienna, Austria) and Matthijis Verdam (Hilversum, The Netherlands).
"This will be a good tournament for us to get more match play against tough competition and to continue the success from our tournament a couple of weeks ago," said head coach Justin Miles.
An A/B flighted singles draws will compliment two flighted A/B doubles draws for the tournament that runs from Friday-Sunday. The first round of competition begins on Saturday at 8 a.m. with doubles action followed by singles play beginning at 9:15 a.m.
The 2009 UNF Fall Invitational, sponsored by Hampton Inn 9A & Baymeadows, will be played Friday-Saturday at the UNF Tennis Center, located on the campus of University of North Florida. Matches will also be played at the FCCJ Tennis Courts, if needed.
