STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team (0-13-1, 0-4-0) heads to Furman (7-6-2, 2-2) for a 7 p.m. SoCon match Saturday. The Eagles are coming off a pair of tough losses to Wofford and UNC Greensboro last week and will look to rebound.
The Paladins enter this weekend's match riding a two-game win streak. They defeated Elon 3-2 and were scheduled to play Charleston Tuesday but rain forced the match to be rescheduled.
Both Furman's match with Charleston, and the Eagles match with Elon have been rescheduled by the SoCon. Georgia Southern will return to Burlington, N.C. November 9th at 6 p.m. after unplayable conditions in the second forced the cancellation of the match on September 26th.
Jon Cox (Alpharetta, Ga.) leads the Eagles in shots with 29 and has tallied a goal and an assist this season. Cox and the Georgia Southern offense will face a solid defense led by the goalkeeping tandem of Alec Kann and Maros Valko. The Furman defense sports a respectable 1.29 goals against average, and Kann has allowed an even lower 1.09 GAA.
Debola Ogunseye has racked up 18 points this year for Furman and is tied for the team lead in goals with six. Austin Steele (Kennesaw, Ga.) and the Eagles' defense will be tasked with stopping the Paladins' attack.
The match is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. inside of Eugune E. Stone III stadium in Greenville, S.C.
