Eagles Battle to Regulation Draw, Fall in Overtime to Mocs

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Georgia Southern women's soccer team (1-16-0, 1-9-0) tallied eight shots on goal against Chattanooga (7-7-1, 2-7-1) but fall in overtime 1-0 Sunday.
The Eagles tied in shots with the Mocs and led 8-4 in shots on goal. GS also tallied seven corners to Chattanooga's three but were unable to get their second SoCon win.
After two shots on goal by the Eagles to open the overtime period, Donna-Kay Henry launched the game-winning goal in the 94th minute off a pass from Becca Smith.
Georgia Southern moved the ball into the Mocs' portion of the field and recorded a pair of corner kicks in the 10th minute. Michelle Carlson (Melbourne, Fla.) took a shot off one of the corners but missed high of the net.
The Eagles' defense stepped in to make a huge save in the 13th minute on a shot by Lauren Wilson.
Two more corners in the 20th minute put Georgia Southern back on the attack. Courtney Collins (Mason, Ohio) placed a shot on target in the 21st minute, forcing a save by Taylor Davidson.
Danae Kaimuloa (Escondido, Calif.) added another shot three minutes later, missing high of the crossbar.
The Mocs went on the attack in the 26th minute and recorded three shots before Holly Dyer (Auburn, Ga.) took a shot on goal in the 39th minute.
Georgia Southern kept on the attack, adding two more shots on goal in the 43rd minute. Morgan Springer (Mandeville, La.) and Caroline Scales (Chattanooga, Tenn.) both tallied shots to put pressure on Chattanooga's defense.
The second half opened with Chattanooga on the attack, recording three shots in the first five minutes.
The Eagles returned to the attack in the 56th minute, recording two shots on goal. Kaimuloa took a shot that seemed destined for the goal if not for the defensive save by the Mocs. Springer followed Kaimuloa's shot with a corner that led to a shot by Jenny Anderson (Birmingham, Ala.).
Lauren Santos (Berwyn, Ill.) made two saves in the second half to keep Chattanooga off the scoreboard.
Chelsea Kephart (Cumming, Ga.) gave the Eagles a final chance in the final 10 minutes of the second half. Kephart missed high in the 83rd minute and forced a save by the keeper in the 85th minute.
Carlson and Anderson took shots on goal in the first minute of overtime, but Taylor Davidson made saves on both to deny the Eagles.
Three minutes later Donna-Kay Henry added the game-winner to give the Mocs a 1-0 decision.
