Women's Soccer Prepares for Conference Opener at Wofford

Statesboro, Ga. - Georgia Southern Women's Soccer is heading to Spartanburg, S.C. on Friday to take on Wofford at Snyder Field in the conference opener for both teams. The match is set to kick off at 6 pm.

The Lady Eagles wrapped up non-conference play on Sunday, with a 2-3-2 record.

Georgia Southern is looking to get back in the win column after coming back from a three goal deficit to tie High Point 4-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Ashley Toussaint (Warner Robbins, Ga.) scored the Lady Eagles first two goals of the match to help spark the comeback.

Toussaint leads the Lady Eagles in goals scored (5), points (12) and shots on goals (17).

Junior Niki Lepper (Carmel, Ind.) knocked in the game tying goal in the 84^th minute of the match.

Junior Lauren Santos (Berwyn, Ill.) has started all seven matches for the Lady Eagles and has made 41 saves on the season. Santos became Georgia Southern's all-time saves leader on Sunday.

Georgia Southern and Wofford have faced off a total of 14 times and the series is a close one, with Wofford leading the all-time series 7-6-1. The Lady Eagles won last season's match 2-1 on October the 25^th. Georgia Southern has won two straight matches against the Terriers twice in this series and looks to do so a third time on Friday.

Wofford comes into Friday's matchup with a 1-4-3 record.

The Terriers took on VCU in their most recent match and lost 5-1. Their lone victory of the season came in double overtime against Presbyterian (Sept. 12^th). Wofford beat the Blue Hose 2-1.

Georgia Southern and Wofford have faced only one common opponent this season. Both teams faced High Point and tied the Panthers in overtime. Wofford faced High Point in their second match of the season on August 24^th and tied the Panthers 1-1. The Lady Eagles took on High Point last time out and rallied from a 4-1 deficit to tie 4-4.

Maggie McLaughlin is one of six Terriers to start all eight matches, and she leads Wofford in goals scored with two.

Monica Ploetzke leads the team in assists with two.

Katie McChesney is Wofford's probable goalkeeper. She has started all eight matches, made 47 saves and has a 1.92 goals against average.

The Lady Eagles head to Greenville, S.C. next to take on Furman Sunday at 2 pm.
