Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Men's Soccer team is preparing for its second home match of the season versus Jacksonville.
The Eagles enter this weekend's matchup with a 1-3-0 record after losing 1-0 Wednesday to North Florida. The Eagles' lone victory on the season came against Clemson (9/5), when Daniel Smith (Marietta, Ga.) scored both goals in the Eagles' 2-1 victory over the Tigers.
In the North Florida match Jon Cox (Marietta, Ga.) took three shots on goal, one of which hit the post.
Smith leads the Eagles in goals and points with two and four respectively.
Cox leads the team in assists with two and shots on goal with six.
Joey Ralph (Martinez, Ga.) has played every minute of all four matches for Georgia Southern and has made 20 saves on the season.
The Dolphins of Jacksonville University sport a 2-4-0 record after dropping their most recent match 2-0 on the road at South Carolina. Jacksonville's latest victory came over Presbyterian 3-0 on Friday.
Ramak Niakan Safi, Stefan Runeman and Tony Taylor are tied for the team lead in goals scored with two each.
Safi leads the team in points with six.
Jacksonville alternates goalies each game. Joey Sanchez should be the starter Sunday. He possesses a 1.33 goals against average and has picked up seven saves on the season.
Mike Johnson is in his sixth year as head coach at Jacksonville. He has a 115-87-14 record in his ten year career.
The match will be the second match played that day and should start Sunday at 4:00 pm. The Women's Team will take on High Point at 1 pm.
