Lynndsey Hyter Tabbed SoCon Track & Field Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Georgia Southern's Lynndsey Hyter was named Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week by the Southern Conference for her performance this past weekend at the Shamrock Invitational in Conway, S.C.

Hyter was a double-event winner on Saturday claiming the long and triple jump titles. She earned an NCAA Regional qualifying bid with a leap of 40'09.50” in the triple jump event. The Dallas, Texas native concluded the Shamrock Invitational with a distance of 19'10.75” in the long jump.

The Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honor was the first in Hyter's career. Her distance in the long jump moves her into fourth place in the GSU record books behind Kellie Mitchell's mark of 19'08.25” set in 2002, while her triple jump leap ranks third all-time.

Hyter and the rest of the Eagles return to action this weekend as they travel to Columbia, S.C. to compete at the Weems Baskins Relays.
