HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. ? The Georgia Southern swimming & diving team concluded their season on Saturday, at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships (CCSA) in Huntersville, N.C.
The Eagles finished fourth with 463.5 points, while Davidson takes home the first-ever CCSA Championship compiling 660 overall points.
Highlights from the CCSA Championships included Georgia Southern's 200-yard freestyle relay team. Comprised of Courtney Martz (Woodbine, Ga.), Jennifer Clayton (Marietta, Ga.), Amanda Gerdeman (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Katelyn Woolfolk (Satellite Beach, Fla.) the unit earned a first place finish with a time of 135.65.
Martz finished second in the 100-yard backstroke racing to a time of 58.62, while teammate Lindsay Goodman (Knoxville, Tenn.) notched a fourth place finish with a time of 58.99. Goodman also had a sixth place finish in the 200 back earning a time of 2:07.61.
Martz, Gerdeman and Ali Campbell (Alberta, Canada) finished one after another in the 100-yard freestyle event. Martz swam to a fifth place finish with a time of 52.99, while Gerdeman finished sixth touching the wall in 53.22 and Campbell placed seventh in 53.29.
Sophomore Ashley White (Charlotte, N.C.) earned a sixth place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.84.
GSU divers Nikki Hutchison (Kennesaw, Ga.), Cassie Smith (Cartersville, Ga.) and Katie Creighton (Snellville, Ga.) had consecutive finishes. Hutchison placed ninth with a point total of 193.40, while Smith and Creighton earned point totals of 177.45 and 161.00 respectively.
The CCSA Championships concluded the 2007-2008 swimming & diving season.
