Lady Eagles Travel to Face Conference Foe Western Carolina

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern's women's basketball team travels to Cullowhee, N.C. to take on Western Carolina University in a Southern Conference match-up on Sunday, December 21. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at the Ramsey Center.
The Lady Eagles (6-4, 2-1) look to rebound after coming off two road losses earlier this week. In their last contest, the club dropped their first conference game of the season to UNC Greensboro, 71-53 (Dec. 17). J'Lisia Ogburn (Dublin, Ga.) had a huge night recording her second career double-double. The junior chipped in a career-high 16 points and pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds in the game. Overall, the team shot 32.8 percent from the floor and recorded 44 rebounds.
Leading the Lady Eagles in scoring for the season is senior Ashley Melson. The Newnan, Ga. native is averaging 14.5 points per game and shooting 52 percent from behind the 3-point arc. Topping the leader board in rebounding for Georgia Southern is Jessica Geiger (Stone Mountain, Ga.). The junior is averaging 5.9 rebounds per game.
The Catamounts (4-5, 1-1) are coming off a 91-66 road victory against Wofford (Dec. 16). The win was their first conference victory and road win of the season. Kristen Feemster recorded her first career double-double scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Brooke Johnson led the Catamounts in scoring overall with 19 points.
WCU hosts College of Charleston Friday, Dec. 19, before facing the Lady Eagles on Sunday. Georgia Southern holds a 26-12 advantage overall against Western Carolina. Last season, the conference rivals split the contests, going 1-1. In the last meeting, Western Carolina rebounded with an 87-58 victory at home over GSU, who took the first meeting, 64-62, in Statesboro earlier in the season.
The Lady Eagles boast a 12-5 overall record in Cullowhee and Head Coach Rusty Cram posts a record of 16-10 when facing the Catamounts.
