STATESBORO, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern women’s basketball team is preparing for its season opener against Brewton-Parker on November 15th at 1:00 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse.
Head coach Rusty Cram was pleased with what he saw in their first preseason scrimmage against Florida. The Lady Eagles continue practice this week in preparation for the start of the regular season.
Monday the team started practice running full court transition drills. They worked on passing the ball as well as their timing during a fast break.
The Lady Eagles also continued work on their motion offense. Ball movement in the offense was a key focal point.
Practice wrapped by working on defense. Coach Cram and his staffed emphasized denying the passing lanes as part of their defensive work.
“It was a good practice," said coach Cram." "We got a lot of conditioning in and worked on our execution and timing. We are continuing to get better, and I felt like we took a step forward today.”
The Lady Eagles will practice Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week.
“We are going to continue to work on execution and getting into game shape,” said Cram.
