STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern (3-1) will face its second Top 25 team in less than a week's time when the Lady Eagles travel to South Bend, Ind. to face #15 Notre Dame (3-0) Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Joyce Center.
Georgia Southern's only loss this season came against #20 Auburn on Wednesday. The Lady Eagles picked up their third win Saturday against UNC Asheville. Georgia Southern has never faced the Fighting Irish or any current member of the Big East Conference.
Ashley Melson (Newnan, Ga.) has scored in double-figures in ever game this season and ranks fifth in the Southern Conference with 14.8 points per contest.
Jessica Geiger (Stone Mountain, Ga.) just missed tying her career high in points against the Bulldogs on Saturday but did set a new season high with 12. The junior forward also pulled down a career best 10 rebounds against Auburn.
Notre Dame has started the season with three straight wins including two road wins. The Fighting Irish opened their season on the road at LSU and won 62-53. Their other road win comes in their most recent game against Boston College. The Fighting Irish shot 65% from the field enroute to a 102-54 win over the Eagles.
Ashley Barlow led Notre Dame in scoring in the first two contests and has scored in double-digits in every game this season. The junior guard scored 19 points against LSU and did so again against Evansville.
The Lady Eagles will open conference play when they return home and will face the Appalachian State Mountaineers on December 1st in Hanner Fieldhouse.
