Women's Soccer Falls to Elon 3-0

ELON, N.C. ? The Georgia Southern women’s soccer team lost to Elon 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field.
The Lady Eagles fall to 4-10-3 (2-7-1 in the Southern Conference) on the season, while Elon improves to 8-7-2 (4-5-1).
Elon Phoenix outshot the Lady Eagles 19-4, leading 1-0 at halftime thanks to an early goal by Katina Boozer in the seventh minute.
Michelle Berard (Kennesaw, Ga.) responded with a shot in the 8th minute, but it was blocked by an Elon defender.
The Lady Eagles managed only one other shot in the first half. Sara Oland (Evans, Ga.) took it, but it sailed wide right of the net.
The Phoenix scored a quick second half goal in the 55th minute of play to make the score 2-0. Alix Heinicke took a shot that bounced off the goalkeeper’s hand and into the net.
Elon scored a third goal in the 80th minute to make the score 3-0. Brittany Hallberg scored her second goal of the season off of a give-and-go pass from Taylor Harlan.
Ashley Toussaint (Warner Robins, Ga.) and Elissa Botts (Grovetown, Ga.) both had second half shots that sailed wide of the net.
The Lady Eagles host their final regular season match against Davidson on October 30 at 4 p.m. at Eagle Field.
