Women's Hoops Continues Road Trip at Elon

GREENSBORO, N.C.? The Georgia Southern women’s basketball team will look to build off a recent Southern Conference victory as it faces Elon, Monday at 7 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium.
Georgia Southern (6-8, 2-1) defeated UNC Greensboro, Saturday (Jan. 5) and will continue its two-game road trip facing the Phoenix.The win snapped a two-game skid.Elon (6-8, 2-1) recently fell to College of Charleston (Jan. 5), and picked up its third loss in four games.
The two teams have met on eight occasions with the all-time series tied at four games, apiece.The last time the Lady Eagles defeated the Phoenix happened at home, last year (Feb. 3) with a 46-37 GSU advantage.The win marked a milestone for head coach Rusty Cram as he became the winningest women’s basketball coach at Georgia Southern.The win also halted a two-game skid against the Phoenix.
Pacing the Lady Eagles are seniors Tiffany Brown (Waxhaw, N.C.) and Shawnda Atwood (Pensacola, Fla.) with 11.4 and 11.3 points per game, respectively.Atwood pulls down a team-high 5.7 rebounds per game, while Carolyn Whitney (Duluth,Ga.) dishes out a team-best 3.5 assists per contest.
Elon is led in scoring by Tierra Bumbrey with 12.9 points per game and is followed by Kitara McMoore with 9.6 points per contest.McMoore pulls down a team-high 7.1 rebounds per contest while Bumbrey tallies a team-best 3.6 assists and 3.1 steals per game.
Head coach Rusty Cram owns a 173-159 career and school record in his 12th year at the head of the Lady Eagles.
Elon head coach Brenda Paul, a 1977 graduate of North Georgia, is in her 30th career season with a 435-416 record.She carries a 166-213 record at Elon.
