WASHINGTON, D.C. ? The Georgia Southern Football program will have another game televised this season. The Eagles' game at Appalachian State on October 20 will be televised live by the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
MASN made the announcement Thursday morning (Sept. 20). Kickoff will remain at the regularly scheduled 3:30 p.m. time spot from Kidd Brewer Stadium.
MASN covers a seven-state region from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Charlotte and encompasses all of: Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia in addition to parts of Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Carolina. The combined TV territory makes MASN the fourth-largest media market in the country, reaching five million households on basic cable.
With this recent addition, Georgia Southern will now have seven regular season games televised (SportSouth and CSS/Charter Sports Southeast).
“This is a great opportunity for fans and alumni of Georgia Southern and football fans across MASN's seven-state region to watch two very talented teams. As North Carolina's must-have sports network, MASN is proud to televise this exciting conference rivalry” said MASN spokesman, Todd Webster.
The game adds to MASN's already extensive NCAA football schedule. MASN televises more than 200 NCAA football, basketball and lacrosse games each year.
“We are extremely pleased to have the Appalachian State game on television. This game always makes for exciting television. Now with seven regular season games on television, this addition will greatly enhance our Football program's exposure throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states,” said Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Sam Baker. “We are currently exploring possibilities of a local station carrying the game with MASN's approval.”
