Men's Tennis Concludes Georgia Southern Invitational

Statesboro, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern men's tennis team concluded its first tournament of the 2007-2008 season, Sunday, at the Georgia Southern Invitational, held at the Hanner Fieldhouse Tennis Courts.
In doubles action, the team consisted of junior Neil Shine (Augusta, Ga./Augusta Prep) and freshman Mark Paetz (Munich, Germany) fell in the doubles B championship match to Kevins Sijmons and Davor Zink of Armstrong Atlantic by a score of 8-2.
Georgia Southern's duo of sophomore Gregory Bekkers (Antwerp Belgium/Keystone) and freshman Wesley Powell (Bainbridge, Ga.) were defeated 8-4 in the doubles B consolation finals to Ivan Milivojevic and Dmitry Lomakin of South Carolina State.
In all, five teams competed in the Georgia Southern Invitational. Armstrong Atlantic came away with the most bracket championships (3). The Georgia Southern doubles tandem of Emmanuel Nkoueleue (Douala, Cameroon/ Abraham Baldwin) and Borja Malet (Barcelona, Spain/San Ignacio-Sarria) were victorious in the doubles A consolation bracket.
The Eagles will be back on the courts October 5, at the Georgia Tech Invite held in Atlanta, Ga.
