STATESBORO, Ga. - Former Georgia Southern senior woman administrator and 2004 Hall of Fame inductee Brenda Carter was recently tabbed as the No. 1 women's tennis player in the world by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for women over 60.
The latest rankings were released in a poll on July 30 with Carter amassing 720 total points, which was 60 points more than her closest opponent.
“Brenda should be commended for her No. 1 ranking, which demonstrates her work ethic and dedication to the sport,” said current Georgia Southern senior woman administrator and former women's tennis coach Cathy Beene. “Georgia Southern is very proud to call her one of our own. She has always been a great leader and role model and she always strives to become the best in everything she undertakes.”
Carter served as Georgia Southern's first senior woman administrator from 1993 to 1999. She was also the faculty chair of athletics (1990-1992) and associate athletics director as well as an assistant professor in the mathematics and computer science department.
