Four Earn SoCon All-Tournament Softball Team Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Georgia Southern softball team had four of its members named to the Southern Conference All-Tournament team after reaching the championship game.
Earning all-tournament honors were senior Maria Laurato (New Orleans, La.), sophomore Robyne Siliga (Oceanside, Calif.), and freshmen Sam Russo (Snellville, Ga.) and Jenny Side (Loganville, Ga.).
Laurato hit .333 with two home runs and four runs batted in. She collected hits in five of GSU's seven games, and hit a solo homer in the eighth inning of the championship game, briefly putting the Eagles in the lead.
Siliga batted .316 with a 3-for-4 performance in an elimination game against UNC Greensboro. She drove in two of the team's three runs, including a walk-off hit in the seventh. Siliga drew six walks and reached base at a .480 clip.
Russo tied for the team lead with a .375 average and six RBI. She capped off a two-run rally in the seventh by driving in the winning run against Western Carolina with a walk-off double and rallied the Eagles from a 1-0 deficit in game one vs. Furman with a two-run homer. Russo had a hit in six games.
Side slugged a team-high .640, drove in six runs and hit .320 with two homers. She posted a five-game hitting streak and went yard against Chattanooga and Furman. Side finished the season with nine home runs, tied for second in a single-season at Georgia Southern.
