Lady Eagles to Entertain Presbyterian, Thursday at 5 pm

STATESBORO, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern women's basketball team will play host to Presbyterian, Thursday (Dec. 20) with tip-off at 5 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse.
Tickets to the game may have already been printed out reading 3 p.m., but fans should note that the game time has been changed to 5 p.m.
Georgia Southern (4-6) recently picked up its first Southern Conference win, Sunday, (Dec. 16) as it held on to defeat Appalachian State by a 72-58 margin. The win extends the flawless home streak to three games on the season as the Lady Eagles look to continue the momentum in front of the home crowd. PresbyterianCollege (1-9) recently fell to No. 13 West Virginia (Dec. 15) in Morgantown, W. Va. The Lady Blue Hose will battle East Carolina tonight (Dec. 18) in only their second game at home, before travelling to Statesboro for its first-ever match-up with host GSU.
Georgia Southern is led on offense by senior guard Tiffany Brown (Waxhaw, N.C.) with 12.5 points per contest. Classmate Shawnda Atwood (Pensacola, Fla.) follows close behind with 12.0 points per contest and leads the team with 5.4 rebounds per game. Junior guard Ashley Melson (Newnan, Ga.) is the third Lady Eagle to average double-figures in the points per game category with 11.1 points, while pulling down 4.9 rebounds per outing. Sophomore guard Carolyn Whitney (Duluth, Ga.) dishes out a team-high 3.8 helpers per game.
Presbyterian is paced by junior forward/center Sharie Hopkins with 12.5
points and 5.2 rebounds. She also leads
the team in field goal (.510) and free throw (.698) shooting percentage.
A 1985 graduate of Louisiana Tech, head coach Rusty Cram is in his 12th season at the helm of the Lady Eagles and carries a 171-157 career and school record. Presbyterian head coach Jessica Vanco, a 1999 graduate of St. Bonaventure comes to Statesboro with a 35-61 slate in her fourth season with the Lady Blue Hose.
