STATESBORO, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern men's soccer team will play its last game of the regular season against non-conference foe Stetson, Tuesday (Nov. 6). The match is slated for 7 p.m. at the Stetson Soccer Complex in DeLand, Fla.
Tuesday's match-up between the Eagles (6-10-0) and the Hatters (10-4-2) is the 23rd meeting between the two programs. The Eagles claim a 10-9-3 all-time series advantage, winning their last two meetings over the Hatters. The last time the Eagles defeated Stetson was last year in a 2-1, overtime decision on Eagle Field. Stetson last defeated Georgia Southern in 2002 by a 5-2 advantage.
Georgia Southern is looking to bounce back after falling 2-0 to College of Charleston (Oct. 30). The Eagles are led on offense by freshman Luigi Clendening (Augusta, Ga.) with 12 points, including five goals and two assists. Junior forward Daniel Smith (Marietta, Ga.) follows with 10 points, including three goals and a team high four assists.
The Hatters are coming in with a six-game winless streak, having last played to a 2-2 stalemate with non-conference opponent Winthrop (Nov. 3). Stetson is led on offense by Tanner Wolfe with 23 points on eight goals and seven assists. Following Wolfe is Kirk Labusch with 17 points, including five goals and seven assists.
After the short break in Southern Conference play, the No. 7 seed Eagles will set their sights on the first round of the SoCon tournament versus No. 2 seed College of Charleston. The match will be hosted by the Cougars and is slated for Saturday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at Patriots Point Stadium in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
