Eagles Finish in Sixth at Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. ? The Georgia Southern swimming & diving team concluded the Davidson Invitational on Sunday, with a sixth place finish in Davidson, N.C.
The Eagles amassed 268 total points during the three day competition. Gardner-Webb took home first with host school Davidson right behind them in second.
The 200 medley relay team had a strong performance finishing fourth on Sunday afternoon. Senior Jennifer Clayton (Marietta/Kell), juniors Katelyn Woolfolk (Satellite Beach Fla./Satellite) and Kristin Butts (Woodstock/Kell) and sophomore Courtney Martz (Woodbine/Camden County) teamed up to earn a time of 1:52.41 during the event.
Martz came in seventh place in the 200 backstroke event with a time of 2:12.01. Woolfolk added a sixth place finish in the 100 freestyle to help guide the Eagles to sixth overall.
Divers Steffi Sheckler (Umatilla Fla./Umatilla), Nikki Hutchison (Kennesaw/Kennesaw Mountain) and Katie Creighton (Snellville/Brookwood) placed seventh, eighth and ninth respectively in the 1-meter dive.
The Eagles return to the pool Saturday, January 5, 2008 at home against Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) members Radford, Gardner-Webb and Florida A&M. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
