CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Georgia Southern freshman Cassie Smith (Cartersville, Ga.) was named Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Diver of the Week for her performance on the board in the Eagles' meet against Davidson this past weekend.
Smith received Diver of the Week honors for the first time in her career after posting a third and fourth place finish in Davidson, N.C. last Friday. She becomes the second Georgia Southern diver to pick up the CCSA's Women's Diver of the Week award this season. Fellow freshman Steffi Sheckler earned the award Oct. 16 for her performance against the College of Charleston.
Smith put up a score of 193.27 in the 3-meter dive and compiled an overall score of 189.07 in the 1-meter event.
The Eagles (4-1, 3-1) are back in the pool Friday (Nov. 16-18), as they head to Davidson, N.C. to compete in the Davidson Invitational.
